We did get it to work well but the numbers do look low and I think that is because of the auto trans. Yes the turbo has a 20g wheel but runs a small td05 hot side so this turbo spools early but doesn't move a lot of air up top because of the small exhaust side. The flatness of the torque curve is where it looks really fun. screw numbers, it's all in how it drives. I wonder how much you were able to shift it back to the left? I think the numbers look a tad low but again, you are on 91 octane and really. (I know this is redundant but I like talking things through). Then, to shift it back you advanced the exhaust cams. So, you what you have is a quick spooling turbo, but with cams that shift the torque whp curve to the right. Anyway, from what I gather, this flows about like a 20g, 42-44cfm, but spools like a 16g? Although I heard conflicting info in this area that it flows more. Apparently Tomei does not disclose cfm #'s and only rates their turbos according to whp. I don't know much about this turbo so before I responded I went digging around. The hp came in a little lower than desired but the cams to allow us to make power down low and spool early. The goal was to get a early spool and a smooth curve so as not to scare her. The car is a fxt auto that is my wifes dd and auto cross car. As i was maf scaling everything was pretty uniform at +7 to 15% maf correction.Fuel is 91 and the turbo is a tomei 7760. 99 because someone else on RR with had success with these setting on these injectors. As far as i know injector scaling has nothing to do with idle so i left it at 840. 99 I have +- 1% correction but it is still chopie. So how do i know if my latencys are off for idle. timing in that area is around 40-26deg in the. the roughness seems to go away above that 'magical' rpm. It seems that when AVCS is raised to increase VE, the timing table needs to be no higher than 38* in that load range below 3k. I was having a similar problem with a 04STI. The vibration only happens in that load and rpm range the rest of the time (besides trying to idle with its big cams) it has no vibration. Well the car itself has only 21,000mi on it and he is using the stock motor mounts. I don't have any logs of the one WOT pull we made so Ill see if I cant get one on Monday.įile comment: 60mi of driving after final maf scaling I have attached that last LV of the session you will see why I think something funny is happening between the big cams and AVCS. Half throttle to WOT pulls feel fine with no FLKC stored (except the one area in question) and the IAM was not knocked down during our trip. I have boost set so it wont go over 15psi with zeroed WGDC because i have not set OL fueling yet. We drove about 120mi today maf scaling, logging and breaking the motor in. I'm thinking maybe it's AVCS related with that EGR peak and the big cams not playing nicely. Some cruse areas are funky, like a strange vibration at. Once it gets to 30deg total timing i noticed it smooths out completely in the lower RPM's. From a start it takes a bit of leg work to get going but after 1500rpm its fine or from a roll its fine. Stock was 14-15 and it really sucked then. I'm using a gabedude stage1 for a base map.įirst off idle/startup sucks, I have raised the idle to 950rpm and set idle to timing 16-17deg. All i am doing is calibrating a safe tune that can be driven on with no problem during the motor and clutch break in process.Įither 272 or 280 cams (not sure but they are big) I am no master tuner nor am i trying to get big power at this time. I am helping a friend tune his new set up so he can get to the dyno and I am having a tough time.
